> Eddie Crane, ex-cop turned private eye, is drawn into a stolen-drive, crime-lord game where everybody is a pawn or a predator. And Rita keeps vanishing.

Tropes: Private investigator, Ex-cop, Femme fatale, Stolen drive, Rain-soaked noir
Read if you like: PI noir, femme fatale mysteries, city-of-lies thrillers

Rain, neon and coastal roads. Eddie is hit on the head, hunted and chasing both a man and the truth, while Rita keeps rearranging the pieces so nobody sees the full picture until it is too late.

### The feel of the read

Eddie Crane's background as an ex-cop turned private eye puts a classic PI frame around the story, and Rita's habit of rearranging the pieces keeps the reader's read on who's controlling the situation shifting throughout.

### Who this book is for

Good for readers who specifically want a private-investigator lead rather than a civilian or career criminal, and who enjoy a femme fatale whose motives stay genuinely unclear.

### Format, price and where to read it

The Vanishing Mistress is $3.99 on Kindle, free to read with Kindle Unlimited, and also available in paperback.
